Haworth and the Community

For over a quarter century, the steadily growing list of journals and books published by The Haworth Press has supported scholarship with a mission. A close look at the subject areas covered by Haworth publications show that for decades the company has turned its attention to study that informs, heals, challenges, and assists. Haworth was among the first to publish women's studies in the behavioral and social sciences, has long supported work in addictions and substance abuse, and is committed to the study of human sexuality. Trauma and abuse are given forums for publishing, as are children and youth, aging and gerontology, therapies and pastoral care, medicine and pharmacy, and many more. And always, library and information science is recognized as the core of scholarship in any discipline. In a period of transformation and innovation, the libraries are essential to the capture and dissemination of information that is evolving daily.

Most of Haworth's publishing initiatives were personally shaped and supported by Publisher and President William Cohen, and reflect some of his deepest personal concerns. To that end, the Haworth Press's charitable contributions are an extension of the company's larger goal: to produce tools for scholars, researchers and readers that will make a difference. When you teach and support what you know, a legacy for good is set in motion.

The Haworth Press is also committed to the communities of Binghamton, New York, and West Hazleton, Pennsylvania, where Haworth offices are located. Here assistance is extended to local food banks, animal shelters, Relay for Life: Making Strides Against Breast Cancer, and assorted fundraising walks and events. It is our privilege to serve.
